** Cuffed And Stuffed **
*** Marbles
***
by Bobby Mac
part 12 of 14 (marbles)
"How
did you like those apples?, well if you wanna be like that she
could poison you with her cooking", said Karl, "and
very easily I might add". All the time Karl was keeping
the pair talking, Alicia and Douglas were slowly rolling
marbles on to the floor, a huge bucket full of bright glass balls,
all speeding towards Mooshat and Rubin, who were still sitting
on the floor. First one, then another rolled against Rubin,
then Mooshat felt some rubbing against him. "What's that
touched me?", asked Mooshat. "I dunno but it touched
me too", said Rubin, "let's get out of here". The
pair went to stand up but neither of them had shoes or socks
on and neither could stand. The more the two wriggled on the
floor, the more marbles got underneath them, they were
everywhere. Eventually Mooshat pushed his hand out to
explore, "it's just marbles, kids stuff", he
said. "Maybe", called out Karl, "but enough to
keep you busy for a while". He was right, it took ages for
Mooshat to clear the marbles away long enough to even try to
stand up. The marbles got under his legs and some went up his
jeans, after what seemed ages, he managed to stand. He tried to
help Rubin up, but Rubin was so heavy Mooshat ended up back on
the floor himself. He went to stand again but this time he put
his back to the wall, pushed the marbles away from his feet and
slowly stood up. He was feeling pleased with himself. "Takes
more than a few kids and their toys to stop us ay bro", he
said, when something heavy landed on his feet, he tried to move
them but they were stuck like glue. "Th, th, there's
something on my f, f, f, feet", he stuttered. "Of
course there is, you fiddling fan dancer. it's me, I'm standing on
your feet, cause it's the only way I can get up", said
Rubin. "Well get off me now, you heavy lump", said
Mooshat sullenly. "Don't tell me what to do or I'll clip
your ear", said Rubin and he tweaked his brothers
ear. "Get off!!", said Mooshat almost losing his
footing.
