*** Caesar's Plan ***

by Bobby Mac

part 4 of 13 ( Caesar's Plan )

“Trouble ?”, replied Sasha. “Not that Percy Possum again,I thought
we had taught him a lesson, and he was being good now.
“No, no, not Percy Possum, Dora Magpie and all her relations”, interrupted Tigger,
then he told Sasha and Caesar, who had wandered over to see what was up,
about the Magpie's plan to scare all the smaller and younger birds away
and grab all the food.
“Belinda Blackbird said she thought something wasn't quite right, that's why
they've been staying close to the smaller and younger birds”, said Sasha,
“well Granny won't let them get away with it, we all know the rules, get
on with everyone or leave”.
“Ummm.,ummm.”, said Tigger, “if we pick on the Magpies first
Granny might think it's our fault”. Caesar called over his young son
Max, who was almost as big as his dad. “Now”, said Caesar, “I want you
to do exactly what I say, go out and find Horace Hedgehog, Henry's brother,
and ask him to tell all Granny's animals what's going on, and they must
be ready to act on my word”.
“I could tell them”, said Max, “I would be a lot quicker”. “And”, said Sasha,
before Max could continue, “you're a lot bigger and noisier, Dora Magpie
is not silly enough to miss you charging around, just do what you have been
told, and, please, do it quietly”.
“Okay”, barked Max, then slipped quickly and quietly out of the house, much
against his natural instinct, which was to charge around barking and chasing
balls and sticks, or any other toy that he could get anyone to throw.
Horace lived down near the pond, so Max had to go past the table and chairs
that Granny and Granddad used to sit on, under the big umbrella which was
folded down, and the moon was partially blocked by the big Magnolia trees.
Max thought of how different things looked at night, as big as, he wasn't
sure he wanted to hang around here on his own. He carried on passed the
Holly and the Cabbage trees, past the Weeping Cherry, through the apple
and pear trees.
