*** Kids ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 11th. May 2004)

everywhere I travel I hear people complain
they don't understand, and how their kids are a pain
do not they realise their kids eyes are their own
perhaps if they talked with them instead of just moan
true communication they just might even foster
kids might even miss being on the police arrest roster
try to remember being young and how it felt
you never know, could be, they won't need the belt
don't forget a teens life is turned inside out
all mixed up with those extra hormones floating about
keeping integrity while having an open mind
an appreciative child with love they might instead find
children need a safe haven on which to rely
think twice before giving them the thumbs down reply
go home, you who complain your kids are a pain
and tell them you still love them and ask them to explain

*** Schizophrenia ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 11th. May 2004)

you are here
I see you there
and the other you over here
if you are here, you are definitely there
but because you are there, you can't be here
if you are there, is not there, here, or is here, there ?
you're either one or the other, or you're just not here
if you are simply not here, then you could be anywhere
if you are not anywhere, you surely must be nowhere
but you must be somewhere
so if you are not anywhere, nowhere, here or there
is nowhere anywhere?,was there anywhere near here?
and if you are not there somewhere, is there a you ?
was there ever a you here in the first place ?
and if there is not a you, there is only me
if I am not there, am I even here ?
and if I am not here,
is there a me
p.s.
as you are still here reading this, you must now be there
you are there, and I am not here, yet I am there with you
as you and I are both there, does this mean you are me ?
therefore if I am you, and you are there, there must be here
now you are both here and there, how do you fell being me ?

*** dragon slayer ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 19th. April 2004)

while proudly standing at the cave's ancient door
he proceeded to announce, what he was there for
"dragon I've come to slay you" the warrior did scream
came back the reply "surely you live in a dream"
at this he charges forward, as the creature roars
while still running, the warrior draws his sword
the cave rumbled, as this prime evil battle ensued
to end up the loser, meant you'd become food
thrusting his mighty weapon, the knight did attack
the dragon responded, giving him an almighty thwack
this championship carried on, for over half a day
that was until the dragon, no longer wanted to play
after belching methane, then rubbing his flint teeth
he bellowed out a flame, the heat was beyond belief
scrambling out the door, with a body that was cinged
even the thought of more battle made his body cringe
"take this proof", spitting out a tooth ,"say I didn't survive"
"call yourself dragon slayer, but if you return, I'll eat you alive"

*** stellar watch ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 19th. April 2004)

lying there late at night, on the hot asphalt of the road
staring upward with a group of friends in stellar mode
gazing in awe at all the stars, noticing the odd satellite
playing dot to dot to see what picture you can write
fantastic drawings start to emerge between the stars
recognising a few constellations or maybe even mars
the experience can be exilerating, and yes it is quite fun
but be careful of the road you choose for it's also dumb

*** wild tiger ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 19th. April 2004)

nothing is worse than a stomach enraged
angry as a wild tiger caught and then caged
acid burning it's way straight through the lining
what's worst you're to blame, too much dining
getting indigestion will hit you like a heart attack
so give it some thought before eating that snack
with a little forethought the beast you can calm
fore go the second course and no antacid to palm
moderation is one thing that's strongly advised
then your diet won't end up being deprived
your stomach can be a pet or a beast
it's your choice, now enjoy that feast

*** poison in my veins ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 19th. March 2004)

they tell me there's poison gushing round in my veins
this news is as welcome, as putting on your boots over chill-blanes
as it is, half my veins have gone varacase
still yet another hurdle for me to face
guess I should feel grateful, it's non contagious as such
only through blood transfer, so I still can touch
my bag of burden is getting quite heavy and full
while life goes on, a rest sometimes would be soulful
I look on the bright side of life, an eternal optimist
just as well as otherwise about now I'd feel quite pissed
you say this is just your way of putting me to the test
how many more tests are there before my heavenly rest ?
there's nothing else for it but to carry on as best as I can
though why did this latest burden have to be in my life's plan ?
no point in moaning or crying or feeling sad
doing these would only make me quite mad
so I roll another cigarette and make a cup of tea
for now, I just pretend this isn't happening to me

*** sacrifice ***

by 'Barry R. Long' (posted 19th. April 2004)

as I held the knife tightly in my hand
her life's blood seeped into the land
watched blood roll down the blade
a sacrificial knife that was handmade
the shaft was crafted with precision
designed to create a perfect incision
I slit her fine throat from ear to ear
while the onlookers they did cheer
sliced her belly, out flowed intestine
then checked the liver, it looked fine
the signs are good for wealth in the plan
we are blessed with this sacrificial lamb
