*** 8 Man ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

I went down town today
had some bills I had to pay
along the way I met this funny chap
you should hear the crap that I got back
all I said was g'day, how's it going?
then out his mouth words start flowing
sorry if I irritate, for I am a member of club 8
never to duplicate, twice a line we sound the ate
it's in our mandate that we stipulate
there's no one to adjudicate the words we manipulate
nonsense we repudiate, and meaning we incorporate
we sometimes hyphenate, yet never do we abbreviate
occasionally managing to titillate, normally it's just frustrate
first of all we meditate on the conversation we wish to stimulate
language we rejuvenate, the use of which we demonstrate
at a future time we will affiliate, other sounds we choose to dictate
learning skills while we orate, um' and r's we eradicate
the image that the club to radiate, is of scholar not prostate
if a member to retaliate, reason for he must state
he finally stopped to to take a breath
did I want to hear the rest?
before I could ask , are you for real?
he continued on with his spiel
I also love to mediate, between members that can't relate
remind not to discriminate, on the colour of their portrait
for this likely to devastate the harmony that we create
good fellowship we syndicate when we listen and concentrate
while trying to elaborate, we strive not to overly dominate
from the topic we don't deviate, therefore talking I will terminate
before departure I will relate, this point that I wanted to illuminate
"yes it is a good day and life is going well"
