*** Bush Fire ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

an inferno of a fire sweeps across all the land
spreading with wings, transcending, wind fanned
leaping over rivers and mountains as if not there
destroying everything without a thought or a care
no respecter of oceans, or borders it marches on
with all of them singing merrily their patriotic song
the flames will continue until they encircle the globe
thirsting to purify through burning, this man in a robe
he holds his hands out as if comforting and warm
then hands them a powder-keg, igniting a storm
when over plants democracy, a new crop for Bush to grow
