*** Cot Tales ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

how do I tell my son I'm leaving home
proceedings for divorce is highly prone
got myself up about twelve o'clock
to check on my boy lying in his cot
he looks so cute just laying there
a little smile and not having a care
my picking him up I try to resist
fail miserably for my love insists
I pick him up and give a cuddle
without waking he does snuggle
love him to bits this son of mine
just to see him makes the sun shine
we sit down in the rocking chair
I quietly tell him all about this life
and about his mother who's my wife
I talk to him all about his family tree
and of grandma, who tomorrow we'll see
eventually I return him to his cot
talked for hours, it's now five o'clock
