*** Little Voices ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

I hear little voices talking in my head
the voices of addiction and this is what they said
don't be logical and buy that thing called food
buy another box of Tui, truly NZ brewed
have another cigarette, life's already heading south
who cares about cancer when a smoke is in your mouth
roll another joint or spot it on the knives
marijuana after all is the spice to enjoy our lives
if you are feeling hungry, imagine how much you could get
playing on the pokies once the jackpot is set
I know these voices are only the product of addiction
but as life goes on they get louder, leading to more affliction
