*** Night View ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

softly absorbing the night view from afar
pondering our place amongst the stars
some say we are alone, but one of a kind
space is devoid of life, nothing to find
one little planet in a small distant galaxy
possibilities are endless if one can only see
to think of us as unique is surely arrogant
compared to the universe we are an ant
accept it not there are more of us out there
logic demands that they might come here
it will be like discovering the world is not flat
existence of other life in space established a fact
then our place in the stars we must ponder
the night view won't be so far any longer
