they say, a picture is worth a thousand words
at first I thought the notion was absurd
then a friend took photo of us at the beach
"righty o" he said, "now turn it into speech"
first we listed everything we saw
he pointed out what we ignored
like how it was about mid day
the direction of the wind, the trees portray
what tide it was, and the sea being rough
whether the beach was sand or shell encrust
how old were we all, and which sex
as I started to realise the description was complex
so we set about writing, then the room fell dumb
the statement had lied, two thousand, the sum
