*** Off To School ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

I'm out the door and off to school
wearing a trench coat, looking a fool
I walk three miles through the hood
the danger of which, I fully understood
to wear the coat I consider to be best
for it doubles as my bullet proof vest
two high powered air rifles lay in wait
me being target practice on a daily rate
after being shot everyday for over a year
guns and are now things, I can not bear
a simple task as walking to your school
being the war victim of two juvenile fools
