*** Challenge Poem 19 ***

*** Searching ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

asking why as the tears cascade down her face
she searches for her son without finding a trace
with knots in the stomach and her heart in her mouth
she looks everywhere north, east, west, and south
until she finds him, for her, life can not carry on
for her life is playing a tragic and sorrowful song
sometimes trying to eat, yet she can't hold it down
trying to be hopeful, but she's still wearing a frown
her lack of sleep is starting to take it's toll
it's hard to think straight with a tormented soul
thoughts invade her every sense
making the task even more intense
each day she follows different leads
to find an answer is all that she needs
