*** Swirling Wind ***

by 'Barry R. Long'

ratepayers were warned in this country town
a twister is coming, so we better batten down
the swirling wind spiraling high on it's course
to deliver a shining example of natures force
increasing in intensity as it travels ever closer
it's more powerful than train or a giant dozer
just for a warm up it quickly touches ground
ripping off roofs and throwing cars around
a small taste of what this tempest has in store
reaches a volume and pitch of a gigantic roar
warmed up and primed and up to full charge
letting it loose, the devastation would be large
ripping and tearing the town wherever it goes
which direction it will take no one ever knows
playing with trucks and buses like tinker toys
releasing it's anger while this twister destroys
it took ten minutes to pass the town's gates
now there's no town, and no need for rates
