*** Enemy Mine ***

by 'Rusty Bourne'

Ever heard the expression who needs enemies when friends combine
well I'm who needs enemies when I've got enemy mine
The inner voice we listen to in our times of doubt
that little piece of conscience we could all do without
I've tried to reason , when it comes to my enemy mine
but no matter what point I prove there's always an axe to grind
It really is a nuisance I wish he wasn't there
alters all my line of thought , makes me have to care
He says he is a messenger sent from the lord above
says he knows the secret to the crossword we call love
"Trust me" he urges I'm a diamond in the rough
Lord your pretty twisted to put me through this stuff
I feel like a schizophrenic but the half I don't control
thinks that I'm the heart and he's the flipping soul
but I guess we're stuck together as we been all the time
maybe one day I will accept , even trust my enemy mine
